Relations between dieting and depression.

Over the years there have been studies for and against dieting and depression.

In a article dated 16th December 2012, it was stated:

“Eating fatty and sugary foods can cause chemical changes in the brain. Making the person on a diet feel like they have drug withdrawals.”

Sarah Glynn, Medical News Today.

With this in mind and over the years through person centred analysis I have seen deficiencies in people’s health both through blood work intervention and food based behaviour and relationships measured and analyses by both mood diaries and food diaries for a person to struggle both in the short term and long term.

This as not only effected their ability to be nourished daily yet their ability to digest food, their ability to perform daily due to low energy capacity yet also creating mood problems and over prolonged periods symptomatic depression and insomnia.

Being able to intervene with nutritional strategies to alleviate these problems can be vital for someone to both recover and overcome the issues yet also ensure that the strategy that is installed goes deeper than the symptoms to find the root cause.

To track and find out the issues I would invite those who have come across such symptoms above to consider:

1: Blood work to analyse and find the root deficiencies.

2: Keep a mood diary over 14 days

3: Track nutrition through a food diary over 14 days.

4: Track sleep with a sleep diary throughout 14 days.

If we can provide further assistance, insight or information please write to us at Matthew White Health & Nutrition and we would more than welcome your thoughts and feedback.

All the best for 2023

It’s trying to tell us to slow down. It was February 2017 and I had a contact get in touch for me to go and see them. They had been cleaning up their nutrition, health and lifestyle and all of a sudden had hit a stumbling block. There was something not right here. A...
